Study Update
To date, over 100,000 participants have completed their 2007-2008 survey.
The survey effort will stay open through November 2008, to ensure that our
deployed participants have adequate time to contribute to the study. If you
haven't yet completed your survey, please do so as soon as
possible via our
secure on-line survey.
Participants are receiving postcards and periodic email reminders requesting they complete their 2007-2008 survey. Paper surveys are also being mailed as a substitute to taking the survey online.
Have you left the military? Your participation is still vital!
Your unique experiences, including those after you leave the military, are necessary to
evaluate long-term health effects of military service.
Approximately 20% of the Cohort have left military service. We estimate that as many as 30% will no longer be in the military by the middle of 2008.
The study team wants to emphasize the importance of continued participation! The Millennium Cohort is the largest prospective health study in military history, and one of the largest cohort studies in world history. Participants should feel confident that they are contributing to an effort of profound public health importance!
Millennium Cohort Team Research Progress
The Millennium Cohort Study is evaluating chronic diagnosed health outcomes and long-term subjective health, among military members, especially in relationship to exposures of military concern. We are very excited to be able to link the 2001 and 2004 questionnaire data to begin to assess effects of military exposures over time. Please visit our Publications page to read more about our published research products.
The Millennium Cohort Study is a Department of Defense research project at the DoD Center for Deployment Health Research, located in San Diego, California.
